Hana Yori Dango Season 2 Episode 3 Hardsubs

SARS release of Episode 3 Hardsubs of Hana Yori Dango Season 2 is now available for download, download the bit torrent file here. Thanks again SARS for another super fast hardsub release. Please support them by visiting their website.
I love watching the soft sub version because it comes out so quick but the SARs edition is the version that I'm burning on DVD for my drama collection. SARs is doing a terrific job.

another great thing about having all these versions is that the translation in each is always slightly different from the others in some respect...i like having a choice of which version of a conversation was best...and sometimes even subtle word choices or inaccuracies provide a whole new meaning to certain scenes...

*spoilers to follow*

for instance, in the first softsubbed version i saw of the ep 3 scene where shigeru hides and waits for domyouji [at ebisu garden place] until domyouji's mom's secretary comes to pick him up, the first translator whose subs i used had put something like "he [domyouji] wasn't waiting for HIM [the secretary], was he?" (implying she hadn't heard what the secretary told domyouji)

...and then i saw the SARS version a week later, which instead said: "he [domyouji] wasn't waiting for HER [makino], was he?" (implying she DID hear what the secretary told domyouji)

that one pronoun has huge implications on what shigeru does or does not know about domyouji and makino...and since i don't understand japanese and don't know which translation is right, i enjoyed the theories i've come up with re: the writers' original intent. :o)

I agree Kathy about having many versions to have a better understanding. I think part of the problem in this particular case is the personal pronouns ((from about.com)) "kare (he)" or "kanojo (she)may have been spoken too fast or slurred). Also I believe "kanojo" is often shortened to "kano" at least in anime. (Kare Kano for His and Her Circumstances for example)
But my guess is that HIM is correct because I didn't think at that point that Shigeru thought that Makino was any competition and it was spoken after HE the secretary arrived.

But that's just my theory ;-]

Yup, that's the version I'm more inclined to believe, too - if "she" was spoken instead, it would cast a totally different light on Shigeru, especially since the next scene in that episode was her going to Tsukushi's house (to feed her family)-what were her intentions then?

I like to think she isn't as "cunning" as to try to pry into Tsukushi's life just to see how much of a competition the latter really is, and that she honestly wants to be good friends with her, but of course I am rooting for Tsukushi and Tsukasa, anyway.

I can't wait for the fifth ep! T_T
