I’ve never watched a Taiga drama before, lots of samurai movies like Zatoichi, Yojimbo, newer ones like Aragami and Owl's Castle but never a 49 episode drama. I just thought it would be too long and maybe boringly slow. But last week waiting for the new Japanese drama season to begin I decided to download the first few episodes and give Musashi a try.
Musashi is about the famous swordsman/philosopher/painter who lived in the 17th century and wrote the Book of the Five Rings. The story starts as Takezo (Musashi’s original name) survives losing the battle of Sekigahara fleeing with his childhood friend Matahachi as the victors hunt for them. In the first 15 episodes Musashi travels around Japan in his quest to become a great swordsman. The story is far from boring and anyone who enjoys samurai movies or historical fiction will be sure to enjoy this series. There is an incredible cast most very recognizable to any Japanese drama viewer including, Ichikawa Shinnosuke, Tsutsumi Shinichi, Yonekura Ryoko, Matsuoka Masahiro, Uchiyama Rina, Kitano Takeshi, Abe Hiroshi and Nakama Yukie. Musashi is based on the novel by Eiji Yoshikawa.

The entire 49 episodes along with the soundtrack can be downloaded here. They are all hardsubs most are mpg2 format (SVCD quality) a few are mpg1 (VCD quality).

The screen caps below are all from episode 1 an mpg file, the last two are from a latter episode in mpg2 to show the higher quality.

You should definitely download this it's 33 hours worth of Musashi, and easy to download as all the episodes have good seeds. I'm up to episode 19 now and the story just keeps getting better and better.
