Great Teacher Onizuka Screen Caps

The camera opens on a pool filled with girls in bikinis, then pans up the side of a hotel/apartment building to reveal two window washers talking, it finally focuses on Onizuka Eikichi played by Sorimachi Takashi (Beach Boys, Hotman) when he says “Well actually I wanted to be a teacher.” From inside the building a cop, Onizuka’s friend Saejima Ryuji played by Fujiki Naohito (Proposal Daisakusen, Hotaru no Hikari) beckons him inside. After briefly speaking Onizuka rushes off not on a motorcycle but along side one on his bicycle as he rushes toward his dream of becoming a teacher. Once he arrives at the interview with the head teacher Uchiyamada played by Nakao Akira, it becomes apparent that he won’t be hired, he went to a 3rd rate university and is considered trash by the head teacher. After almost losing it he starts to leave but stops at the snack bar for a drink when two students wielding bats charge up the stairs screaming, the lady working the snack bar suggests to Onizuka that he may get hired if he can prevent the students from hurting anyone. Onizuka imposes himself between the two angry students and the head teacher. The head teacher informing Onizuka if he stops the students he’ll reconsider hiring him. But then telling the students “that they are nothing but trash”. Onizuka delivers a roundhouse kick to the head teachers jaw, stating that the students are not trash.
So begins one of the most enjoyable of all the drama’s that I’ve been lucky enough to watch. Onizuka is just plain cool, dumb but cool and with a heart that would do anything for his students as becomes apparent after you watch this first episode. No matter how outrageous his behavior it just seems to work. The show is filled with many talented actors among them are Oguri Shun (HYD, Hana Kimi) as Yoshikawa Noboru, Kubozuka Yosuke (Strawberry on the Shortcake, Laundry) as Kikuchi Yoshito, Matsushima Nanako (HYD, Majo no Jouken) as Fuyutsuki Azusa and Nakamura Aimi as Aizawa Miyabi. But without a doubt this show is great because of Sorimachi Takashi, he not only carried it with excellent acting, he even sang the opening song of the drama “Poison”, a song as cool as Onizuka.
The 1998 drama is based on the even more outrageous 25 volume manga “Great Teacher Onizuka” by Fujisawa Tohru, so after you watch the 12 episode series and two special movies give it a try. Then there’s always the 43 episode anime to watch.

Download the bit torrent batch file for the complete hard subbed series including special and movie here. The 2nd Soundtrack and the song Poison sung by Sorimachi can be direct downloaded here.

After the screen shots is a YouTube video for Poison.

This has clips from many different episodes in the show.

This is such a great drama, and the anime is amazing as well. Actually I think this was one of the first J-dramas I ever watched since I loved the anime so much.

2 Aaron I enjoyed the 25 volume manga and started on the prequel and didn't care too much for it. Both the manga and anime are excellent much better then the ones that accompany Gokusen.

I picked up Gokusen for cheap on DVD, but I haven't checked it out yet. Looks like it might be fun, but I don't expect it to be another GTO.

@Aaron It was OK, except for the stupid dog. I watched it after watching the drama and was disappointed. Let me know what you think after you have time to watch it.
