Long Vacation Screen Caps

It’s the spring of 1996 and a woman, Minami played by Yamaguchi Tomoko (Osama no Restaurant, Double Kitchen) in traditional Japanese wedding attire runs through the streets of Tokyo attracting the attention of the many pedestrians out at 9:30 in the morning. She reaches a building and vaults up the stairs finally pounding on a door on the third floor, Sena played by Kimura Takuya (Hero, Pride, SMAP) climbs out of bed to answer the door. Asakura Kohei the man that Minami is to marry in 30 minutes had been Sena’s roommate, but he packed and left, leaving only a letter for Minami, which she convinces Sena to read to her. The Dear John letter leaves Minami with few choices so she proposes to Sena who refuses. A few days later Minami is back with all her stuff to take the room vacated by her former fiancée. Thus begins one of the best romantic comedies ever made. Aside from the two stars there is an outstanding cast including Takenouchi Yutaka (Beach Boys, Dekichatta Kekkon) as Hayama Shinji, Minami’s brother. Inamori Izumi (Beach Boys, Pretty Girls) as Koishikawa Momoko is her best friend. Matsu Takako (Hero, Love Generation) as Okusawa Ryoko the girl of Sena’s dreams. Ryo (Hero, Sexy Voice and Robo) as Himuro Rumiko, Shinji’s girlfriend. Ryoko Hirosue appears in a few episodes as one of Sena's students. The entire cast has got a great chemistry, that along with a great script by Eriko Kitagawa makes for a terrific drama.
At the 1996 TV Drama Awards it won awards for Best drama, actor, actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, scriptwriter, opening and newcomer (Matsu Takako). It also has an excellent soundtrack. If you don’t hate romantic comedies then I’m sure that you’ll love this drama.

Dear Mr. Kevin, I am grateful for this jewel of a Drama you introduced me to. It is very funny that I am posting you almost 8 years after your article, but nonetheless time is irrelevant when a quality work has been found. Thanks again.
