Seirei no Moribito Episode 1 Screen Caps

Guardian of the Sacred Spirit

Balsa is a female warrior traveling to a foreign city to obtain repairs on her weapon, a spear. Just before entering the city of Yogo, an accident occurs on a nearby bridge, Balsa jumps into the ragging river and winds up saving a prince, Chagum, the son of the Emperor. But that is just the start of the royal intrigue that Balsa the female bodyguard is drawn into. Production I.G. the company that produces Ghost in a Shell has shown the same attention to detail in this anime, the animation is gorgeous, and the action scenes are really well done at least in the first three episodes that I've been able to watch today. The story has an Asian Lord of the Rings feel to it and I'm really interested in seeing where they go with it. The story is based on a series of novels by Nahoko Uehashi and is directed by Kenji Kamiyama, director of GITS and Blood:The Last Vampire.

Many thanks to Jen for recommending this anime to me, I'm enjoying it very much. You can download the bit torrent files for the first 20 of 26 episodes here at the Anime-Kraze website. You can download the PV for the opening song "Shine" by L'Arc-en-Ciel here. The closing song Itoshii Hito e by Sachi Tainaka PV can be downloaded here, but neither of the PV's are very well seeded so the download may take awhile. YouTube video of the anime opening and the closing PV are posted after the screen shots.
