Tantei Gakuen Q Special Screen Caps

The drama opens as a teacher is dismissing the junior high students for summer vacation after admonishing them to study. Kyuu played by Kamiki Ryunosuke (Tokyo Tower, Mukodono!) poses a detective problem to the teacher before leaving, the next day he will be taking an entrance exam to a detective academy run by Morihiko Dan played by Jinnai Takanori (Detective Conan 1, Teppan Shoujo Akane!!), the Sherlock Holmes of Japan. The first person he meets at the exam is Saburomaru Yutaka played by Nakao Akiyoshi (Brother Beat, Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu) next he literally runs into Megu played by Shida Mirai (Suppli, Queen of the Classroom). The three of them make it past the first stage of the exam and meet up with Kinta played by Kaname Jun (Himitsu no Hanazono, Good Luck!!) then they finally meet the final two Ryuu played by Yamada Ryousuke and Kazuma played by Matsukawa Naruki (Seito Shokun!, Enka no Joou) of the six two must be eliminated as the final test begins.

The special aired last summer and is the best place to start watching this summers drama series with almost all of the cast returning this summer the special explains how they all came to be excepted at the prestigious detective academy. I really enjoyed this first episode the kids are cute and the story really moves along at a good pace. This drama is based on the manga and anime of the same title. The 45 episode anime aired in 2003, but an English version hasn’t been licensed. The 22 volume manga which the anime and drama are based on began in 2001. That also hasn’t been licensed for an English release. Luckily the anime was fan subbed and a few volumes of the manga have been scanlated. I’ll do posts on the manga and the anime soon. I think you’ll enjoy this series if you like less then serious mysteries like Kuitan, Detective Conan, or Remote. I'll post screen shots of episode 1 of this year's series soon.
