Joshi Deka! ジョシデカ!Screen Caps

Episode 1
Crash! A battle between women!
The worst pairing in all history is born!

The drama opens as Kurumi in her first homicide investigation played by Nakama Yukie (Gokusen, Erai Tokoro ni Totsuide Shimatta!) is shot while engaged in a gun battle along with her partner, Hanako played by Izumi Pinko (Yato, Haru to Natsu). Then the scene shifts to the previous month, it’s the day that Kurumi is promoted to detective and the day she meets her partner, a veteran with the best arrest record. Another body is discovered in a serial murder case, this victim was discovered alongside the river with a knife in his back, each victim has a different number written in the palm of his hand, and this victim had 07. The detectives watch the news from their office as the Chief of Detectives Aoyama Koichiro played by Masuoka Toru (Umizaru) chews out Hanako for causing another of her partners to transfer out of the unit. He warns her that today she would be getting her final partner, a rookie, but with amazing skills at the firing range, having won multiple shooting contests, if Hanako can’t keep her partner then Aoyama will have Hanako demoted even if she does have the best arrest record. That’s when Kurumi arrives, late, to be introduced to her new partner.
I was pretty disappointed in this show, I had high hopes for the drama because Nakama Yukie is a long time favorite in both drama’s like Gokusen and Trick and movies such as Shinobi: Heart Under Blade she’s great in both comedic and dramatic roles and she’s also quite beautiful. But the plot of this drama didn’t seem to know where to go, it starts off seriously as Yukie is gunned down, then it proceeds to make an idiot out of her. I find it incredible that anyone as idiotic as Kurumi could graduate from the police academy let alone be promoted to detective. She can’t drive, she can’t tell left from right and she daydreams that common objects like an exhaust fan are targets. The good thing about this drama is that it looks like it will cover one serial murder case having one coherent storyline, now they need to decide if this is a comedy or a drama. I’ll watch a couple more episodes to see if this improves but for now I’d much rather watch the other mystery shows Galileo and Yukan Club.

Sasaki Fusai no Jingi Naki Tatakai

Screen Shot from Kimi wa Petto

SMAP's Goro Inagaki (Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, Jyooubachi) and actress Koyuki will co-star in an original drama series on TBS this winter.

"Sasaki Fusai no Jingi Naki Tatakai" is described as a love comedy. Inagaki and Koyuki play the Sasakis, two lawyers with opposite personalities. They've been married for three years, but their heated quarrels lead them to the courtroom to settle a possible divorce, with the two representing themselves.

Their domestic battles are one of the highlights of the show, says producer Masanao Takahashi. He mentioned that the couple nearly gets into fistfights. Viewers will even get a chance to see Inagaki in a wrestling uniform (his character was part of his university's wrestling club).

TBS has lined up a supporting cast that includes Keisuke Koide (Nodame Cantabile ), Wakana Sakai (First Kiss ), Masahiko Nishimura (Akimahende), and Makoto Fujita as staff members of the legal office. Koji Yamamoto has been cast as one of Inagaki's university classmates, while Arata Furuta plays one of Koyuki's close friends, a gay masseur.

Filming begins at the end of November. The show will air on Sundays at 9:00pm, starting in January. from Tokyograph

After just seeing Koyuki (Kimi wa Petto, Ikebukuro West Gate Park) in Antique a few weeks ago, I'm pretty happy to see this announcement today.

Galileo ガリレオ Episode 2 Screen Caps

Uemura Hiroshi played by Koichi Mantaro (Attention Please, Sailor Fuku to Kikanju) calls into work because his son has fever. Takeda Yukie played by Abukawa Mihoko wipes away sweat as she walks to their apartment in record September heat. Uemura’s son Tadahiro wakes from a fever to tell his dad that Takeda is coming, just as she knocks on the door. Takeda and Hiroshi notice a drawing done by the boy of a red car by the river, Hiroshi says that it is impossible. Four weeks later Utsumi Kaoru played by Shibasaki Kou (Orange Days, Good Luck!!) is at the lab door of Yukawa Manabu played by Fukuyama Masaharu (Meguri Ai, Perfect Love) but the professor is playing squash. Kaoru finds Fukuyama at the squash courts as he beats his opponent, Fukuyama starts explaining the physics of the game, but tells her that he will refuse to help her. She pulls out Tadahiro’s drawing and explains to the professor that this might be evidence of a murder suspect’s alibi but Tadahiro’s claims to have drawn it after leaving his body. An out of body experience is interesting enough to Fukuyama that he agrees to help. Kaoru explains that four weeks ago a female judo champion was strangled in her apartment the prime suspect claims that he was asleep in his red car by the river when the crime was committed, the only support to his claim is the picture drawn by Tadahiro, but that isn’t credible because of his claim that it was drawn after an out of body experience.
Yesterday I posted about the perfect Halloween movie for fans of the holiday GeGeGe no Kitaro, today I’m posting about the drama that debunks myths. Even though each episode is random the chemistry between Fukuyama and Shibasaki is enough to hold this drama together and I’ve always liked science so the debunking is pretty interesting to me. It seems that the fall drama season has been dominated by mystery or police shows and this drama is the slickest of them all and I really enjoy it along with Yukan Club which has the most manga like fun.
