Galileo ガリレオ Screen Caps

Kanamori Tatsuo played by Karasawa Toshiaki (Love Complex, Toshiie and Matsu) sits and begins to record himself as he reads, he is disturbed by a motorcycle gang who have stopped and are throwing fireworks in front of his house. He goes to the window to observe them, stamping his foot in anger he starts dialing his cell phone. Suddenly one of the biker’s heads spontaneously combusts killing him. The scene shifts to Utsumi Kaoru played by Shibasaki Kou (Orange Days, Good Luck!!) she is giving her partner details of the incident as they drive to the scene. Once they arrive her partner declares that the biker’s hair caught fire from the fireworks, but Kaoru notices a little girl wandering around looking up into the sky. The scene switches to the police station where one of the other bikers dazedly tells the police that “His head just ignited”. Then we’re introduced to another investigator Kusanagi Shunpei played by Kitamura Kazuki (Bambino!, Akihabara@Deep) the “Mystery Hunter” who is being promoted and leaves the next day for headquarters. The medical examiner Jonouchi Sakurako played by Maya Miki (LIFE, Himitsu no Hanazono) explains the cause of death to the three investigators but can not explain how it occurred. Later Kaoru and Kusanagi sit in a noodle shop discussing the case when Kusanagi let’s her in on a secret that he gets help from a college friend on all the weird cases so he advises Kaoru to contact Yukawa Manabu played by Fukuyama Masaharu (Meguri Ai, Perfect Love) who’s an assistant professor in the physics department of Teito University, but who is also know as Galileo the weirdo.
That’s the first 10 minutes or so of the show all introductory stuff but well done and interesting, the show really starts to pickup after Kaoru and Yukawa meet and start collaborating on the case. I think this is going to be an enjoyable series and in Japan received high ratings, so much so that a movie version has already been announced featuring Shibasaki Kou and Fukuyama Masaharu and much of the original cast it’s due out in 2008. The series reminds me very much of Trick the Nakama Yukie and Abe Hiroshi drama that had a professional magician and a physicist team up to debunk supernatural claims. I think you’d enjoy this drama if you liked the X-Files, Trick or the sillier Kuitan.
SARS fansubs is doing a hardsub release and the first episode bit torrent file can be downloaded here.
