GeGeGe no Kitaro Screen Caps

Three boys wander through the woods; Miura Kenta wants to mail a letter to Kitaro a yokai that Kenta believes will help rid his apartment building of ghosts. The boys find the forest post box and Kenta inserts the letter. The scene shifts and a group of local demonstrators march in protest of a theme park being constructed, which they claim is destroying the environment. As they march a freak accident halts construction which the workers blame on fox spirits. Kenta’s letter is taken by a yokai crow as soon as the boys leave and Kenta alone now and on his way home is pursued by a translucent yokai ball with enormous teeth but Kenta flees and manages to escape. The crow delivers the letter to Kitaro’s friend Neko Musume played Rena Tanaka (Drugstore Girl, GTO) who is preparing a bath for Medama Oyaji Kitaro’s eyeball father. The scene shifts as the evil theme park developer threatens the workers on his cell before conferencing with Nezumi Otoko played by Yo Oizumi (Udon, Sugar & Spice) who he’s paying to scare the tenants of Kenta’s apartment into vacating. Later in Kenta’s apartment where his sister Miura Mika played by Inoue Mao (Hana Yori Dango, First Kiss) is preparing their dinner, Kenta tells Mika about the jellyfish monster that tried to attack him but Mika doesn’t believe in things she can’t see or touch. Nezumi Otoko with some yokai he’s hired attack the apartment building but Kitaro played by Eiji Wentz (Love Com, Kira kira kenshui) arrives in response to Kenta’s letter and drives them away.

This is the best live action fantasy movie I’ve seen since Return of the King, the story which is based on the 1959 manga is very engaging and will appeal to both adults and children. The film was directed by Motoki Katsuhide who also directed Rena Tanaka in Drugstore Girl and the screenplay was written by Habara Daisuke (Hula Girls). Along with the terrific cast I already mentioned are the talented Koyuki (Antique, Kimi wa petto) as the fox queen and Shido Nakamura (Hachimitsu to Clover, Sexy Voice & Robo) as the yokai judge. I would highly recommend this to fantasy lovers who enjoyed Saiyukki or Ima, Ai Ni Yukimasu (Be With You) which Shido Nakamura also stared in. I also thought that the special effects were quite well done, being a mix of CG along with costume and makeup.

The only place that I have been able to find and where I downloaded this movie is FS Seeders it is the SUPERiER 2 CD release with .idx subs which requires membership and upload/download ratios for downloads. I’ve include the bit torrent link HERE for users who are already registered. For those not registered on the site keep trying because membership opens periodically and the site is a great resource for Asian movies. I’ve downloaded over 200GB of movies, dramas and music from the site since becoming a member in 2004. If anyone knows where else it can be downloaded please leave a comment or drop me an email and I’ll edit the post and include the link. Nyaa Torrents has a different release with .srt sub rip subtitles here.

Screen caps of the SUPERiER release.
