Galileo ガリレオ Episode 6 Screen Caps

A man Sakaki Hachi played by Arai Hirofumi (Go, Pride) climbs up the exterior of a house as we softly here instructions spoken by a woman, bidding Sakaki to come to her room where she will leave the window unlocked so he may enter. A girl, Morisaki Remi played by Horikita Maki (Nobuta wo Produce, Kurosagi) is asleep as Sakaki creeps towards the bed calling her name. Remi’s mother enters the room with a hunting rifle demanding that Sakaki leave her daughter alone, she fires as Sakaki scrambles through the window. Utsumi Kaoru played by Shibasaki Kou (Orange Days, Good Luck!!) is grocery shopping when she gets a call from her partner informing her that the fortune teller she had an appointment with two days previously is now wanted for attempted rape. The scene flashes back to Kaoru at the fortune teller’s as she recognizes him as Sakaki Hachi an elementary schoolmate. Kaoru wants to know why he’s using the name Morisaki Remi and Sakaki informs her that is the name of his guardian angel. Kaoru tries to clear her old schoolmate of the crime but her partner wants her off the case so of course she goes to Manabu played by Fukuyama Masaharu (Meguri Ai, Perfect Love) for help explaining the oddities of the case.

This was a very enjoyable yet also very disappointing episode. First I’ll get past the disappointment. I was looking forward to seeing this since I heard Maki was guest starring and the show so far has had a strong list of guest stars with very good roles for them. Maki was onscreen in the first moments of the episode but asleep her next appearance is around fifteen minutes later but she doesn’t even speak. All in all I think she might have had two or three lines throughout the show and maybe three or four minutes of screen time. It’s such a waste of this talented actress. That said, it was a very good show with a decent mystery and the chemistry between Shibasaki and Fukuyama just gets better as the series continues. So I’d say if you’re only watching this because Maki is a guest skip it, but fans of the show and mysteries should enjoy it very much.

I was wondering about Maki while watching this episode-the reason why you highly anticipated her guest appearance since all she did was sleeping and walking. I guess I have to check out movies/dramas that she played a more active role to understand your enthusiasm. Any suggestions to where to start? Late bloomer :) on Maki GiGi

@GiGi two school dramas a cut way above other school dramas, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e for a silly drama based on a terrific manga and Nobuta wo Produce one of the best shows I've ever seen. She also co-starred in Kurosagi where she had a smaller but important role. The producers of Galileo wasted Maki in this role, Ohgo Suzuka was luckily treated much better in her part the previous week.
